Do not force the two halves together
I would check that the card sits within the recessed area before closing the case. A lid that needs pressure to overcome a card or sleeve is a sign to reassess the fit, not proof that the magnet needs help.
The outside measurements are useful for a display stand or storage box. They cannot be used as the available space for the card itself.
Display is a different workflow
A magnetic holder makes sense for a small selection of individually displayed cards. For hundreds of frequently sorted cards, I would compare the surrounding storage footprint and handling time with top loaders before committing to one format.
